So the day has finally come.
* This blog is moving over to a new site! *
Because this site needed an update + fresh look a lonnnnng time ago. Thanks for sticking it out + following along.
The new address is: http://www.meganchantal.com
Hope to see you there :)
Ever have that when you meet someone who you have so much in common with? Design + photography + a mutual love for coffee + anything whitewashed + etc etc = pretty awesome to get out of the city last weekend and spend a couple days with someone like this. Who also happens to be a grad from the same interior design program. (check out her work on http://jcrossondesign.com)
After a slow morning our creative gears got turning. She was hoping to sell a custom table + some chairs, so with the help of her sister-in-law we set up a little styled dining shoot.
Here she is- ‘in the zone’. (it’s a real thing in the creative world.)
Little sweetie full of smiles-
Sounds like Jenaya + I will be doing more photo/design work together in the future- excited to see what comes of it! Stay tuned.
Finishing up my college course meant completing a practicum/internship for a couple months with a design firm (www.kreate-arch.com – check em out) which happens to be in Regina, Sk. Which also happens to have turned into a job placement- glad I get to stay in this gorgeous province longer than originally planned..
One rainy Saturday we took a drive down to some pretty cool country in southern Sask. Wish I woulda taken a few more snaps- but when it’s seriously raining non stop staying in the truck is a lot more appealing
The next weekend was convocation up in Vermilion! Hard to believe its all wrapped up.
Couldn’t have done it without these two ♥
Or without this sweet gal.
Neatest bridge on the way up to the lake north of Vermilion..
Back in Regina – lots of nights spent at this beauty of a (man-made) lake in the middle of the city.
Oh boy seems like updates are few + far between these days.. these were taken well over a month ago from such a fun weekend out in Rocanville. Jeeping, dirt biking and a supper cookout in the prettiest of valleys with the most awesome group – can hardly go wrong with a combo like that!
The line-up consisted of one brand new shiny orange jeep, one never-quitting classic old jeep and one “are you sure that thing is going to make it on these trails?” jeep..
But the license plate sums it up.
Seriously how cool is this thing? Just the best for cruising through the hills.
Waiting for the rest of the crew = time to make a few adjustments
Aaaaand then we turned the corner + came across a bit of a tricky situation.
Patiently waiting their turn-
The next day we checked out some more of the hills + countryside near the same valley..
The whole point of going is to get stuck, right?
Mud was flying but there was no way she was budging.
But after a few more tugs from every angle they got it un-stuck + we were on our way! Pretty alright way to spend the long weekend.
Proof right there that she might think I’m a little bit ridiculous…
…but maybe that’s why we get along so well.
I’d say I lucked out for a pretty ideal room mate.
On Monday, these two were surrounded by their sweet family & friends as they said their vows & promised on forever.
Brodie ♥ Kailee.. thank you so much for having me capture your love. Here is a little preview of your perfect day!
Kailee’s dress was just stunning. Especially in the light that was filling the room where the girls were getting ready..
A special friend in Norway joined in on excitement via Skype
Over at the guy’s place, things were pretty relaxed-
& pretty soon we were all headed to the ceremony!
The inside of the building had been completely transformed by white tulle fabric, making it dreamy & the perfect spot to be married..
One last pep talk!
This crew were real troopers putting up with pictures as the wind was a little bit (reallly) cold..
Things were getting a bit cozy while the guys were waiting their turn..
I just love this one.
Back at the venue, the room had been transformed again for the reception..
This was the gorgeous cake. & that flower isn’t a real flower… seriously a masterpiece!
& I’ll end on this one because it’s clear these two have the most loving families that are so happy for them…
These two are gettin hitched!! ♥ Spent the afternoon [on the coldest day of the year] shooting some engagement pictures for this sweet couple. Huge thanks to J&S for being so photogenic, for being up for anything I asked, for being unreal troopers in the waaay-below-zero weather, & for having the biggest smiles that made my job so easy!!
Hope u like them!
So here are a few bit&pieces of what life has looked like lately! Startin off with a peek at N&N’s photobook→ first time using Blurb & was def impressed with the quality + service + customization, check them out if you want some photos in print
Double thumbs up for this banana bread that you wouldn’t even know is gluten free
Travel inspired art. [First one is oil pastel of the south English coast, second is a fishing boat in Mykonos, Greece done in coloured pencil & the last is work-in-progress of the Irish coastline!]
Aaaaand of course school projects. For this one we were given some boxes as an outline for a one-point perspective kitchen & it was our job to turn it into whatever we wanted..
Plans + sketches + notes + inspiration
When the work load isn’t so heavy, its pretty sweet to get out & enjoy whats just down the street [specially when January dishes out some gorgeous spring weather]
The colours & fog made for a dreamy scene the other morning
Last wknd I lucked out big time when the sweetest gals came to visit!! Found the cutest old buildings that we wanted to just buy right then & fix up. Can’t you just picture this as the most adorable lil coffee house?!
Wishin I would have got a few more shots of our time together with everyone ♥ Guess they’ll just hafta come back!
